CE 0476 medical device for nasal irrigation, indicated for daily hygiene by douching the nasal mucous membranes, in order to prevent blockages caused by stagnant catarrh secretions, or for those with breathing difficulties due to conditions such as: colds, cough, sinusitis, post-operative recovery, otitis, asthma, bronchitis, nasal polyps, allergens, or caused by environmental contaminants such as dust, smoke or fumes. An adjunct in the treatment of night-time nasal obstruction.

Intended use
The device allows the sterile, pyrogen-free (isotonic) saline solution contained in 250 or 500 ml bags to flow by gravity or manual pressure into the nasal cavities (upper airways). At one end, the device has an irrigating nozzle that directs the jet of saline solution towards the meatuses of the nasal cavities, exerting a powerful cleansing action in the cavities themselves and in the nasopharynx, helping remove all secretions, dust, allergens and any chemical substances present.

Dosage
For adults and children (over 3 years), 1 to 2 irrigations a day are recommended, or as otherwise directed by a doctor.

Instructions for use
• Carefully remove the first protective pouch from the bag.
• Warm the bag with the solution to about 30-35°C by immersing it in hot water. Then unscrew and remove the protective cap.
• Attach the suction cup to a smooth surface above the washbasin.
• Open the pack containing the device.
• Lower the roller wheel until the tube is completely closed.
• Remove the cap and firmly screw on the male connector of the device. Holding the connector between your fingers, use the other hand to break the snap-off cone (arrow-shaped part) to activate the bag-device connection.
• Hang the bag on the suction cup, securing it properly.
• Tilt your head forward over the washbasin, lower than your shoulders.
• Bring the irrigating nozzle to your nose and press gently against the nostril. Breathe through your mouth throughout the treatment.
• Raise the roller wheel about halfway, then adjust it so that the solution flows gently without going into the throat.
• About halfway through the treatment, switch nostrils if desired.

Materials
The device, supplied in a single sterile blister, consists of:
- 1 male Luer lock connector in ABS; for connection to the bags (female Luer lock connectors);
- 1 soft NO-DOP PVC tube (phthalate-free), diameter 3.5 x 5.5 x 500 mm;
- 1 roller (body + wheel) in PP; for tube/flow regulation;
- 1 dispenser/nozzle in ABS.
