Magnesium is an essential mineral, and on average an adult's body contains 21 to 28 g: 60% is stored in the bones, 38% in the muscles and about 1-2% in blood plasma and red blood cells. It plays a fundamental role in maintaining membrane potential, regulating the permeability of cell membranes to all minerals, especially Sodium, Potassium and Calcium. It contributes to all intracellular metabolic processes and transmits nerve impulses to the muscles. It is needed for the correct functioning of over 300 enzymes: it plays an important role in cellular energy production and in the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids.
Properties
Muscles: involved in muscle contraction and relaxation.
Nervous system: has a calming, relaxing effect on nerve cells; in cases of deficiency, nerve cells do not transmit messages properly and enter a state of hyperexcitability.
Cardiovascular system: may help lower blood pressure, a mechanism probably due to its calcium-blocking action, which has a vasodilating effect; it is of fundamental importance for maintaining the correct mineral balance in the cells of the vessel walls.
Immune system: involved in antibody formation and in the mechanism of phagocytosis.
Inflammation: Magnesium reduces levels of C-reactive protein.
Bones: supports the absorption and use of Calcium, playing an active role in bone health. It increases the solubility of phosphorus ions and calcium hydroxyapatite and stimulates osteoblast proliferation.
Teeth: strengthens tooth enamel, as it also improves the absorption of other minerals.
Cholesterol: Magnesium may improve total and LDL cholesterol levels.
Water retention: important for eliminating excess fluids, it has a positive effect on peripheral circulation and is useful in combating water retention, often responsible for a feeling of heaviness in the legs.

Directions for use
Adults and children from 8 years: 1 sachet a day is recommended, away from meals, to dissolve directly in the mouth or, if preferred, in a little water.
