Sodium hyaluronate 1 mg/ml

To improve lubrication of the ocular surface in dry, burning eyes or eyes with a foreign-body sensation due to environmental conditions, and after eye surgery.

Sterile eye drops free from phosphates and preservatives.

What is HYLO-COMOD?
HYLO-COMOD is a sterile, preservative-free solution containing 1 mg/ml of sodium hyaluronate, a citrate buffer, sorbitol and water.

What is HYLO-COMOD used for?
To improve lubrication of the ocular surface in dry, burning eyes or eyes with a foreign-body sensation due to environmental conditions, and after eye surgery.

When should HYLO-COMOD be used?
Itching, burning or eyes that tire easily, or a feeling of sand in the eyes, may all be due to a lack of moisture on the ocular surface. If you spend a lot of time in air-conditioned rooms, for example, or after intensive computer work, the natural tear film that normally covers the ocular surface breaks up more quickly. For the health of the eye tissue, it must be continuously lubricated by a tear film.

Following eye surgery or eye injuries, physiological tear secretion may be reduced. However, adequate and continuous lubrication is needed for the regeneration of the surface tissues of the eye. Applying HYLO-COMOD provides long-lasting moisture to the cornea and conjunctiva so that the physiological healing process is effectively supported.

HYLO-COMOD contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found inside the eye and also in other parts of the body. Thanks to its special physical properties, it forms a continuous, moist, lubricating, stable and long-lasting film on the ocular surface that is not easily washed away. This film does not blur vision, however, and protects the eyes from dryness and irritation for a long time.

This is particularly important if you wear contact lenses, as, in order not to cause any discomfort, they must be bathed in sufficient tear fluid. HYLO-COMOD can be used while wearing contact lenses. Wearing hard or soft contact lenses will be more comfortable with HYLO-COMOD because it does not leave deposits or residues.
HYLO-COMOD is preservative-free and is therefore generally well tolerated. In addition, HYLO-COMOD contains no phosphates, thus avoiding complications such as deposits in the cornea.
The COMOD system on the market delivers 10 ml of solution, equivalent to about 300 drops. For technical reasons, a small amount remains in the bottle once the liquid is used up.
HYLO-COMOD can be used for an unlimited period of time.
The HYLO-COMOD bottle is strictly personal; do not let other people use it.

How to apply HYLO-COMOD?
Figure 1: remove the cap before use.
Figure 2: before the first application, turn the bottle upside down with the dropper facing downwards and press the base of the bottle to release the first drop from the dropper. The bottle is now ready for subsequent applications. Hold the bottle upside down, placing your thumb on the top of the bottle and your other fingers on the base.
Figure 3: support the hand holding the bottle with your free hand.
Figure 4: tilt your head slightly back and press the base of the bottle quickly and firmly. This activates the mechanism that releases ONE drop. Thanks to the special valve mechanism of the COMOD System, the size and speed of each drop are always the same, regardless of the pressure applied.
Close your eyes slowly to allow the fluid to spread over the surface of the eye.
Figure 5: after use, close the bottle immediately with the cap, making sure there is no liquid left on the dropper. During instillation, avoid any contact between the dropper and the eye or facial skin.

What other information do you need to know?
If you use other eye drops, allow at least 30 minutes between applications and always use HYLO-COMOD last. Eye ointments, on the other hand, must always be applied after using HYLO-COMOD.
As it contains no preservatives, HYLO-COMOD is well tolerated even when used for a long period of time. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as burning or excessive tearing have occurred, which stopped immediately on discontinuing HYLO-COMOD.
HYLO-COMOD can be used in children, during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Frequency and duration of use of HYLO-COMOD
Use HYLO-COMOD in accordance with the instructions given by your doctor or the specialist who prescribed your contact lenses. Generally, one drop of HYLO-COMOD is applied three times a day in each eye. If necessary, use the product more frequently. If you use HYLO-COMOD more often (for example more than 10 times a day), contact your ophthalmologist. HYLO-COMOD is suitable for long-term treatment. As with all problems, consult your ophthalmologist if they persist.

When not to use HYLO-COMOD?
Do not use HYLO-COMOD in case of hypersensitivity to any of the excipients.
