Description
Toothpaste with 0.20% chlorhexidine.
It is a gel that is gentle on the gums, an anti-plaque adjunct, which ensures complete oral hygiene by inhibiting the growth of plaque-forming bacteria.
Plaque is made up of millions of bacteria that cause food residues to ferment, producing acids that attack tooth enamel and cause tooth decay.
An undesirable consequence of bacterial plaque formation is gingivitis, characterised by redness and bleeding of the gums.
If neglected, gingivitis can develop into periodontitis: a receding of the gums which, in extreme cases, can lead to tooth loss.
Chlorhexidine can cause staining on the tooth surface, which can easily be removed at the dentist's.
