CE-marked medical device. Self-adhesive occluder used in orthoptic therapy for amblyopia and strabismus.
• Adhesive: hypoallergenic adhesive, free from natural rubber latex and solvents, suitable for children's particularly delicate and sensitive skin. Removal is comfortable and avoids trauma even with prolonged use.
• Backing in white and skin-coloured non-woven fabric. The shape of the occluder adapts optimally to the anatomy of the periocular area.
• Central pad made of a very thin three-layer material containing a black light-absorbing screen that prevents light from filtering in from outside.
• Shape: the patch is elongated in the area that adheres to the bridge of the nose, allowing glasses to be worn correctly at the same time as the occluder. The glasses stay properly aligned, avoiding blurring and discomfort for the patient. The elongated shape of the patch prevents light from filtering in at the sides. This feature of ORTOPAD prevents abnormal movement of the eye muscles, which could worsen the condition. The notches in the area adhering to the nasal septum effectively prevent wrinkles from forming on the patch, which could cause the occluder to come off prematurely and reduce comfort during orthoptic therapy.
