Description
OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops is a medical device whose action is based on the osmotic properties of glycerol. The main ingredient of OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops is glycerol. The glycerol used in ear drops has two main characteristics:
1. its oily consistency makes it adhere gently to the skin at the point of application and is responsible for its protective properties;
2. its hygroscopic nature, when applied topically, allows the removal of water retained in the tissues (osmotic effect), reducing swelling and thus relieving pain.
The glycerol contained in the medical device softens earwax, facilitates its removal and, thanks to its ability to absorb water, removes excess fluid (osmotic effect), helping to relieve the discomfort that occurs in inflammatory conditions, such as ear pain and swelling. Glycerol has a causal effect. Lidocaine is a supporting agent used as a local anaesthetic, which enhances the action of glycerol and also relieves ear pain.
How to use
1. Wash your hands and unscrew the bottle cap.
2. Tilt your head or lie on your side so that the ear to be treated faces upwards.
3. Gently pull the earlobe (lower part of the ear canal) away from the neck.
4. Turn the OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops bottle upside down without the cap and press both sides to dispense 2 drops into the ear.
5. Keep your head tilted for a few minutes so that the drops can flow into the ear canal.
6. Remove excess liquid with a clean tissue.
7. After application, it is advisable to close the outer ear canal with a cotton wool ball.
8. Replace the cap.
Adults and children over 12 years of age day. If there is no improvement after 3 days or symptoms worsen, consult a doctor.
Children over 6 months: 2 drops in each ear up to three times a day. Use only under the supervision of an adult or a doctor. If there is no improvement after 3 days or symptoms worsen, consult a doctor or paediatrician.
Warnings
Do not use OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops:
- if the packaging has been damaged;
- if the eardrum is damaged (for example: chronic otitis media);
- OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops should only be used after a thorough otoscopic examination by a doctor;
- if an allergy to any of the components of the product has previously been found;
- if the expiry date printed on the packaging has passed;
- if the patient has just undergone surgery or surgical treatment of the ear;
- in children under 6 months of age;
- in case of prolonged pain or swelling caused by inflammatory conditions of bacterial or fungal origin, as such complaints require medical consultation;
- in case of otorrhoea or discharge from the ear.
Do not apply OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops in the ear while wearing hearing aids; OtoFen PAIN Ear Drops should be applied one hour before inserting the hearing aid into the outer ear canal.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, mouth, throat and nose.
Storage
Store in a dry place, at a temperature between 15 °C and 25 °C, upright and protected from direct sunlight.
Protect from frost, do not store in the fridge.
Shelf life after opening: 1 month.
