NEPROST
Description
Neprost is a medical device based on plant extracts, useful as a supportive aid in treatments aimed at maintaining the properties of the prostate gland or known for their beneficial properties on urinary tract function. It may have a beneficial effect in inflammatory conditions of the prostate and in actinic proctitis (induced by radiotherapy) or proctitis of other origin. The product is suitable for short-term use for constipation and haemorrhoidal congestion through a soothing action.
Directions for use
One suppository a day is recommended, preferably in the evening before going to bed. For optimal effect, insert the suppository correctly, making sure it is placed in the deepest part of the rectal ampulla.
Neprost suppositories may reduce transit time in the intestine and consequently also the absorption of other medicines taken orally at the same time; therefore, after taking an oral medicine, it is advisable to wait at least 2 hours before using Neprost.
Ingredients
Lactoferrin, glycerophosphoinositol, hyaluronic acid.
Warnings
As far as possible, avoid using Neprost while using other devices or medicinal products.
In any case, consult your doctor before using Neprost if you are undergoing drug therapy.
No known short- or medium/long-term side effects have been reported. Neprost does not adversely affect sensory abilities (level of attention, ability to drive or carry out activities). However, if undesirable effects occur, such as excessive irritation, pain or any discomfort that may appear related to the use of the medical device, stop treatment immediately and consult your doctor.
The uneven dark colour the suppository may have is a characteristic of the product and does not indicate reduced effectiveness or poor storage.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack and blister.
Neprost is not sterile; however, it is advisable not to use the suppositories if the primary packaging (blister) is damaged.
Each suppository is single-use and should be removed from the pack only immediately before use: do not use broken suppositories or those removed from the blister at an unknown time, as this could lead to a risk of product contamination.
Do not try to reuse suppositories that accidentally come out after the first attempt at use.
Do not exceed the recommended doses.
If the medical device is ineffective after correct use according to the recommended dosage, stop use and consult your doctor.
Abuse of laxatives, especially contact (stimulant) laxatives, can cause dependence, chronic constipation and loss of normal bowel function (intestinal atony), persistent diarrhoea with consequent loss of water, mineral salts (especially potassium) and other essential nutrients. In the most serious cases of abuse, dehydration or hypokalaemia may occur, which can lead to cardiac or neuromuscular dysfunction, especially with concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides, diuretics or corticosteroids.
Do not use under 12 years of age.
Use of Neprost is not recommended in case of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Also do not use in case of:
- acute abdominal pain or pain of unknown origin;
- nausea or vomiting;
- intestinal obstruction or stenosis;
- rectal bleeding of unknown origin;
- acute haemorrhoidal crisis with pain and bleeding;
- severe dehydration.
Neprost can be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, but only when truly necessary and only after consulting your doctor.
Elderly people or those in poor health should in any case consult their doctor before using Neprost.
Storage
Keep the suppositories in the blister, in a dry place away from direct light or heat sources: remove the suppository only immediately before use. Store the device below 25 °C.
Shelf life in unopened packaging: 24 months.
