Synvisc Pre-filled Syringes with Hylan G-F 20 3x2 ml

Synvisc is a medical device consisting of 2 ml pre-filled syringes containing hylan G-F 20, a sterile, pyrogen-free viscoelastic fluid intended for intra-articular injection performed by a doctor.

Composition

• Hylan A and hylan B, 8.0 mg ± 2.0 mg per ml, in buffered physiological sodium chloride solution (pH 7.2 ± 0.3)
• Hylans are derivatives of hyaluronan, made of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetylglucosamine and sodium glucuronate: hylan A has an average molecular weight of about 6,000,000 daltons, hylan B is a hydrogel

Features

Hyaluronan is a component of synovial fluid and determines its viscoelasticity. Through viscosupplementation, hylan G-F 20 temporarily restores the rheological properties of the synovial fluid in the osteoarthritic joint, to relieve pain and functional limitation and allow a greater range of movement. Hylans are metabolised like hyaluronans and their breakdown products are non-toxic.

Directions for use

For intra-articular use only, by a doctor, for the symptomatic treatment of pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, ankle and shoulder.

Warnings

• Do not inject intravascularly, extra-articularly, into the tissues or into the synovial capsule
• Do not use in the presence of venous or lymphatic stasis in the affected limb, infections or severe inflammation, or skin disease or skin infection at the injection site
