Directions:
- post-operative dressing: depending on the wound, Ligasano 0.5 to 2 cm thick is used, cut so that it covers the wound by 3-4 cm beyond the edges. It is fixed with light pressure so that it can adapt to any irregularities of the wound and ensure contact with it. The secretions produced are absorbed by Ligasano, thus helping to avoid secondary infections. The dressing should be changed at the latest when the secretion becomes visible on the surface of the dressing.
- Treatment of ulcers: the ulcer is padded with Ligasano and then covered with a further layer of Ligasano so that it extends 3-4 cm beyond the edges. Then proceed as for post-operative dressings. This produces a mechanical effect, in sync with the movement of the body, which acts on the wound by stimulating the release of secretions, the absorption of germs and accelerated granulation.
- Treatment of leg ulcers: the Ligasano sheet is applied according to the shape of the ulcer, always extending 3-4 cm beyond the edges of the lesion. On a venous ulcer, a firm elastic bandage is applied starting from the metatarsus; on the one hand this intensifies the mechanical effect of Ligasano and it also improves venous return. On an arterial ulcer, however, this additional bandage must absolutely be avoided. In this case Ligasano is fixed with light compression, for example with strips of plaster or a gauze bandage. Ligasano bandages are also very suitable for this purpose, as they do not slip even if the bandaging is loose, and they also stimulate blood flow throughout the leg.
- Treatment of extensive lesions (burns, abrasions): this type of lesion is treated with Ligasano mainly for the mechanical debridement it exerts on the parts of the body that bear weight.
