FRESH ROYAL JELLY Royal jelly is a gelatinous colloidal suspension, whitish-yellow in colour, with a slightly sour taste, low in sugar and with a phenolic odour. It is secreted by the hypopharyngeal glands of young nurse bees (bees aged between 5 and 14 days). Secretion only takes place when temperature and feeding conditions are favourable. Royal Jelly is considered one of the most complete natural foods, being rich in proteins, lipids, sugars, B-group vitamins, in particular pantothenic acid (vit. B5), and numerous other components, generically defined as "minor components", present in small quantities but actually very important for the overall action of this complex hive product, namely trace elements, enzymes, substances with hormonal action, etc. The proteins of Royal Jelly are considered to be of very high biological value, with a significant presence of essential amino acids.
