CE medical device. Self-adhesive occluder used in the orthoptic treatment of amblyopia and strabismus.
• Adhesive: hypoallergenic, solvent-free adhesive without natural rubber latex, suitable for children's particularly delicate and sensitive skin. Removal is comfortable and avoids trauma even with prolonged use.
• Backing in 100% cotton coloured non-woven fabric that lets the skin breathe, avoids sweating problems and offers great comfort. The shape of the occluder adapts optimally to the anatomy of the periocular area.
• Central pad made of a very thin three-layer material containing a black light-absorbing screen that prevents light from filtering in from outside.
• Shape: the patch is elongated in the area that adheres to the bridge of the nose, allowing glasses to be worn correctly at the same time as the occluder. The glasses stay well aligned, avoiding blurring and discomfort for the patient. The elongated shape of the patch prevents light from filtering in at the side. This feature of ORTOPAD prevents abnormal movement of the eye muscles, which could worsen the condition. The cuts in the area that adheres to the nasal septum effectively prevent wrinkles forming on the patch, which could cause the occluder to come off prematurely and reduce comfort during orthoptic treatment.
