Description
Probiotic food supplement for the balance of the intestinal flora.
VSL3 is a patented blend of live, freeze-dried lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria. Eight different bacterial strains have been selected, grown in specific culture media and then blended in proportions designed to optimise the product's effectiveness.
Each sachet of VSL#3 contains 450 billion viable bacterial cells, an amount that helps restore the lactic and bifid bacterial flora of the intestine.
Ingredients
Maltose; blend of live lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria: Streptococcus thermophilus BT01, Bifidobacterium breve BB02, Bifidobacterium longum* BL03, Bifidobacterium infantis* BI04, Lactobacillus acidophilus BA05, Lactobacillus plantarum BP06, Lactobacillus paracasei BP07, Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus** BD08; maize starch; anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide.
No synthetic colourings, preservatives or sweeteners.
Contains no soy allergens or milk proteins.
*Recently reclassified as Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis.
**Recently reclassified as Lactobacillus helveticus.
Gluten-free and lactose-free.
Directions for use
Adults: 1-2 sachets over the course of the day.
Children: consult your doctor for the correct dosage.
Mix the contents of the sachet into a glass of water or any other drink that is not hot or fizzy, and drink immediately. Alternatively, it can be taken with yoghurt, ice cream or fruit juice and consumed straight away. Do not mix with hot food or drinks, as high temperatures inactivate the bacteria.
Warnings
Keep out of the reach of children under three years of age. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. As a food supplement, the product should not be used as a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
The product contains live lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria that are sensitive to heat: avoid exposure to heat sources or temperature changes, and store in a dry place, away from light and refrigerated.
No undesirable effects due to ingestion have been reported. In some cases, abdominal bloating may occur in the first few days of taking the product, especially if the diet is rich in carbohydrates and fats. This effect is temporary.
Storage
Must be kept refrigerated (2°- 8°C) and away from light.
The product can, however, be kept for one week at room temperature (maximum: 25°C) without significant changes in the number of viable bacteria. The best-before date shown on the pack refers to the product correctly stored in unopened packaging.
