Description Food supplement containing monobasic and dibasic potassium phosphate.
The two salts are present in stoichiometric ratios that produce a neutral potassium phosphate.
It is useful to supplement both potassium and phosphorus in case of deficiency or increased requirement for these nutrients.
KPHOS can be used in cases of suspected or established plasma phosphorus deficiency (hypophosphataemia), particularly in people with severe wasting (malnutrition, anorexia) and in hypophosphataemia after kidney transplant.
KPHOS can counteract excess urinary calcium, a risk factor for stone formation, by chelating dietary calcium in the intestine.
Ingredients Maltodextrins, potassium phosphate, flavouring; acidifier: citric acid; colour: beta-carotene; sweetener: sodium saccharin; anti-caking agent: silicon dioxide (nano).
Gluten-free.

Directions for use One sachet of KPHOS dissolved in half a glass of water makes a pleasant citrus-flavoured drink.
Take two sachets of KPHOS a day for adequate phosphorus supplementation.
For other indications (prevention of hypercalciuria), follow your doctor's prescription.
Warnings Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Keep out of the reach of children under 3 years of age.
Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
KPHOS is contraindicated in patients with hyperkalaemia or conditions that may predispose to it. These conditions include chronic kidney failure and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.
Taking KPHOS together with potassium-sparing medicines (triamterene, spironolactone, amiloride) may cause hyperkalaemia. Blood potassium levels should therefore be monitored.
No interactions with other medicines are known.
Rarely, mild gastrointestinal complaints may develop during treatment, such as abdominal heaviness, nausea and occasionally diarrhoea.
