Liberino

Sterile, ready-to-use saline solution, indicated for removing mucus or secretions and restoring the normal condition of the nose in newborns, children and adults, and for nebuliser therapy.
Liberino clears newborns' noses of the mucus that often blocks them, making feeding and sleep easier for infants. It is indicated for removing mucus or secretions and restoring the normal condition of the nose in children who are unable to clean it properly themselves.
It helps eliminate excess nasal secretions and, with its concurrent moisturising action, relieves dryness of the airways in both children and adults.
Liberino can also be used for external eye hygiene. In this case, use a cotton wool pad soaked with the contents of one vial to gently cleanse the outside of the eye, keeping the eyelids closed.

Components
Sodium chloride Ph.Eur. 45.0 mg, Water for injections 5.0 ml.

Directions for use
Newborns: instil a few drops into the nostrils before feeding.
Children: instil a few drops into the nostrils 1-3 times a day.
Adults: 1-3 vials a day, dividing the contents between the two nostrils.
For newborns, open the vial by twisting the top. Holding the baby's head tilted to the right, gently insert the tip of the vial just inside the left nostril. Squeeze the sides of the vial and release the amount of liquid needed. Tilt the baby's head to the left and repeat for the other nostril. Raise the baby's head and wipe away any liquid coming out of the nostrils.
For children and adults, wait a few seconds before blowing the nose to allow the solution to work.
Reclose the vial by pressing the top onto the tip.
For nebuliser therapy:
- to thin secretions: follow the instructions of the nebuliser manufacturer;
- to dilute medicines: follow the instructions on the pack of the medicine to be diluted.

Warnings
Once opened and reclosed after partial use, the vial must be put back in the box, stored in a cool place and used within 48 hours. If used with a medicine, follow the instructions in the medicine's package leaflet.
For nebuliser therapy, do not use in patients with serious respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.
It contains no preservatives and can therefore also be used for long periods.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place.
Shelf life in unopened packaging: 36 months.
Shelf life after first opening: 48 hours.
Do not dispose of the container in the environment after use.
