Description
Symptomatic treatment of constipation. It promotes peristalsis, helping to achieve adequate bowel movements, thus counteracting constipation and preventing the formation of faecal impaction.
Ingredients
Macrogol 4000, sucralose.
Free from gluten and lactose.
Directions for use
Suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 to 4 sachets a day.
The dose should be increased or decreased according to the individual response to treatment, so as to allow regular passing of soft stools. The maximum dose required does not normally exceed 4 sachets a day. Dissolve the powder in water or another liquid (125 ml for each sachet) and take immediately. If taking the minimum dose (1 sachet a day), it is advisable to take the product in the morning. For higher doses, divide intake between morning and evening.
If no improvement is noticed after 7 days of treatment, consult your doctor.
Warnings
Administration to children must be carried out under the direct supervision of an adult.
Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not use after the expiry date shown on the pack.
Do not use if the pack is open or damaged.
The product may reduce transit time in the intestine and therefore the absorption of oral medicines. It is therefore advisable to consult your doctor if you are taking oral medicines at the same time, which must in any case be taken at least 2 hours apart.
The product may have a potential interaction effect when used with starch-based food thickeners. Macrogol counteracts the thickening effect of starch, liquefying preparations that should remain thick to allow people with swallowing problems to take them.
In case of adverse reactions, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
Do not take Stiticol Powder Sachets in case of:
- known hypersensitivity to one or more components;
- paralytic ileus;
- intestinal perforation, obstruction or stenosis;
- severe inflammatory bowel diseases (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, toxic megacolon).
The use of laxatives is contraindicated in the presence of acute abdominal pain or pain of unknown origin, nausea and vomiting, rectal bleeding of unknown origin and in case of severe dehydration.
Some gastrointestinal disorders may occur (stomach ache, flatulence, abdominal bloating, nausea and faecal incontinence). Diarrhoea is a side effect of taking excessive doses of Stiticol Powder Sachets and can be avoided by reducing the dose.
Hypersensitivity reactions (skin rash) have rarely been reported following the use of products containing Macrogol. In this case, stop treatment and consult your doctor.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children. The expiry date refers to the product correctly stored.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and sources of heat.
Shelf life in intact packaging: 36 months.
