Dosage
For oral use. One tablet per 8 kg b.w./day (equal to 20 mg of active substance/kg b.w./day) for infestations by Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Toxocara cati, Trichuris vulpis, Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Uncinaria stenocephala (roundworms), including mixed infestations. One tablet per 4 kg b.w./day (equal to 40 mg of active substance/kg b.w./day) for infestations by Dipylidium caninum and Taenia spp. (flatworms) and for mixed infestations of roundworms and flatworms. In both cases the indicated dose should be given for 3 consecutive days. Always round the animal's weight up to the next whole number. The tablet can easily be divided into four parts, each of which can be used to treat 2 kg or 1 kg of animal depending on the type of parasitic infestation. Place the tablet on a flat surface with the side bearing the score lines facing upwards. Press the centre of the tablet with your thumb to divide it into 4 quarters. If administration proves difficult, the tablets can be mixed into a small amount of food the animal likes. During treatment the animal loses neither liveliness nor appetite. The medicine is well tolerated even by very debilitated animals and those with concurrent illnesses.

Warnings
To achieve effective parasite control, treatment should be based on the results of a parasitological faecal examination. Parasite resistance to a particular class of anthelmintics may develop following frequent, repeated use of an anthelmintic of the same class. Special precautions for safe use in the target species: during deworming it is good practice to give animals lighter meals than usual. It is preferable to administer the medicine on an empty stomach. When the veterinary medicinal product is administered as directed, adult parasites disappear; to eliminate the larval forms of hookworms and ascarids, the full treatment must be repeated 60 days after the end of the first treatment for ascarid infestations and 18 days after for hookworm infestations. Elimination of parasites begins from the very first administration; eggs usually disappear within about ten days of the last administration. Therefore the follow-up faecal examination should be carried out after this period has elapsed. During and after treatment, especially in kennels or breeding facilities, appropriate disinfestation of the premises is necessary to prevent reinfestation. It is also advisable to chemically denature the faeces passed by treated animals in order to destroy any live parasites excreted and thus interrupt the parasite life cycle. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: people with known hypersensitivity to mebendazole should administer the veterinary medicinal product with caution. Special precautions for the protection of the environment: not applicable. Special restrictions for use and special conditions for use, including restrictions on the use of antimicrobials and antiparasitic veterinary medicinal products in order to limit the risk of development of resistance: not applicable. Excessive doses cause vomiting above 500 mg/kg b.w. of active ingredient in dogs and above 300 mg/kg b.w. of active ingredient in cats. Major incompatibilities: not applicable.
Withdrawal Periods
Not applicable.
