Description

Drontal is a veterinary medicine in tablets belonging to the anthelmintic class, indicated in cats for the treatment of mixed infestations by nematodes and cestodes. The pack contains 2 tablets.

Composition

  • Praziquantel 20 mg per tablet
  • Pyrantel embonate 230 mg per tablet
  • Excipients: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silica, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, polyethylene glycol 4000, titanium dioxide

Indications

Active against roundworms (Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma braziliense) and cestodes (Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Mesocestoides spp., Joyeuxiella spp.).

How to use

The dose is 5 mg of praziquantel and 57.5 mg of pyrantel embonate per kg of body weight, equal to 1 tablet per 4 kg, as a single oral administration. The tablet can be split and may be given directly or hidden in food; no dietary measures are required.

Warnings

  • Weigh the animal to establish the correct dosage
  • Do not use in kittens under 4 weeks of age, during pregnancy or together with piperazine compounds
  • Do not use in severely debilitated animals or those with severe hepatic or renal impairment
  • Wash hands after use and avoid contact with the eyes
