Description
The Sofarmapiù aneroid sphygmomanometer is a device for determining systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The cuff is inflated manually with the bulb and the values are read on the gauge dial while listening to the sounds with a stethoscope. The cuff size should be chosen according to the patient's arm circumference: the applicable range is printed on each cuff.
How to use
- Let the patient rest for at least five minutes, with back and feet supported and legs uncrossed, in a quiet environment and without talking
- Wrap the cuff with the artery marker over the brachial artery and the lower edge 2.5 cm above the crease of the elbow, keeping the arm at heart level
- Inflate rapidly to 30 mmHg above the estimated systolic pressure
- Partially open the valve and deflate at 2-3 mmHg per second, noting systolic and diastolic values
- Release the residual pressure and repeat after at least 30 seconds for a second reading
Maintenance
- Gauge, bulb and valve: clean with a damp cloth or an alcohol swab
- Cuff: washable with a mild detergent in warm water (max 60 degrees) and air-dried
Warnings
Do not leave the cuff inflated above 10 mmHg on the patient for more than 10 minutes. Leave a gap of 1-2 fingers between cuff and arm, and do not apply it to delicate or damaged skin or to limbs with an intravenous infusion. Pack of 1 piece.
