Description Esteem+ Soft Convex drainable is an opaque, single-use, one-piece ileostomy collection device.
The pouch adheres to the skin by means of a hydrocolloid adhesive barrier with graduated thickness. The convex structure of the barrier makes it possible to manage poorly positioned stomas and stomas retracted in relation to the skin surface.
The pouch has a filter and is mainly intended for ileostomy patients who want a secure device that is easy to apply and remove. The drainable outlet with integrated Safe Seal closure allows easy, hygienic emptying of the pouch.
Provision for attaching an abdominal belt ensures greater security of pouch adhesion. The viewing window on the outer side makes it possible to check correct positioning and inspect the stoma, if necessary, during use.
Technical information The hydrocolloid skin barrier (a blend of carboxymethylcellulose, pectin and polyisobutylene) contains a 4 mm deep convex insert.
The hydrocolloid has a graduated thickness and its adhesive surface is covered with a transparent protective release paper, easy to locate and remove thanks to a tab.
A circular cutting guide on the release paper makes it easier to prepare the device.
The pouch has an activated carbon filter. Thanks to its structure (MPC - Moisture Protected Composition), the filter allows intestinal gas to escape and be deodorised but does not let liquids through.
The pouch is covered with a soft non-woven fabric panel welded at the edges. The covering is present on both sides of the pouch. On the outer side the panel has an inspection window.
The bottom of the pouch, made of plastic material, rolls up and closes with a Velcro tab.
At the base of the skin barrier there are soft plastic loops for attaching an abdominal belt, to be added as needed.
The identification code is printed on the pouch.

How to use Clean the skin around the stoma with water and dry with a soft cloth.
Make sure the skin is completely dry. Do not use oil-based products for cleansing as they could compromise the adhesion of the skin barrier.
Make sure you know the diameter of the stoma.
Esteem+ Soft Convex is available in pre-cut and cut-to-fit versions in various sizes. If the pouch is not pre-cut, you can use the cutting guide on the barrier, if available.
It is very important that the hole in the adhesive barrier is customised to the size of the stoma. Cut the opening in the barrier so that it matches the diameter of the stoma or is just slightly larger.
Let a small amount of air into the pouch to separate its layers. Warm the barrier by holding it between your hands for a few seconds to aid adhesion.
Remove the plastic film from the back of the skin barrier. Avoid touching the adhesive area too much with your fingers.
Position the skin barrier below the stoma. Starting from the bottom, press the barrier onto the peristomal skin.
Smooth the adhesive surface with your fingers, applying light pressure around the stoma.
For people with an ileostomy or colostomy who need to empty the pouch frequently during the day, the drainable pouch is available, which allows the outlet to be emptied, cleaned and closed again.
Follow these tips when using a drainable pouch with Safe Seal closure:
- make sure the bottom of the pouch is correctly closed
- fold the neck of the pouch 5 times until the two Velcro surfaces match perfectly. Press firmly to fasten and obtain a secure seal
- apply the pouch as described. Pull the tab to open the outlet and empty the pouch.
To remove the pouch, gently peel the adhesive barrier away from top to bottom.
At the same time, keep your free hand on the skin above the barrier.
This helps avoid irritating the skin and makes removal easier.
Empty the contents of the pouch into the toilet.
Warnings The device is single-use and cannot be reused. Reusing it could cause infection or cross-contamination. The device may not be as effective if reused.
When using a cut-to-fit product, make sure the prepared hole is not too large. Gaps can cause skin irritation and redness. Take care not to enlarge the opening beyond the last circle marked on the barrier cutting guide or on the edge, leaving the inner plastic of the convex disc exposed.
Do not flush the pouch down the toilet.
